Teacher Self-Care 101

As a nationwide teacher shortage continues to ravage across the United States, many are left wo wonder why many institutions aren’t willing to reason with these teachers and begin providing them with more compensation and smaller classroom sizes. Organizational level changes require a great deal of time, understandably, but many teachers have reached their breaking point. Can anyone truly blame them, though? Even so much as finding some personal time to practice self-care can be a challenge, especially as teachers leave their full-time professional jobs to return home to then act as full-time parents. That said, it’s clear that in order to find a more healthy internal equilibrium, teachers will have to practice various self-care methods regardless of how little time they think they can carve out in their day. Something as simple as a walk during their lunch break or immediately as they return home can do tremendous good on the brain. Hoping to learn more about the ways teachers can better combat burnout through the help of self-care? See the resource attached to this post.
